Association of Medical Doctors of Asia-Nepal (AMDA-Nepal) was established in 1989 as a chapter of AMDA-International, Japan and was officially registered in the government office as a NGO in 1990. It is a humanitarian, nonprofit-making, nonpolitical, non-sectarian, Non Governmental Organization working with its mission to promote the health and well-being of the underprivileged and marginalized people under the slogan “Better quality of life for better future”.
The powerful principles that bind the medical doctors and other professionals together within AMDA are friendship, brotherhood, commitment and zeal for excellence of service they provide. AMDA Nepal has 34 member committed medical doctor. Guided by this central thrust the specific objectives of AMDA-Nepal are as follows:
Initiate promote and strenghen the coutry's health services through national and international cooperation with the principles of politicial non-alignment, equility and non-discrimination.
Faciliate medical doctors to enrich their professional expertise through mutual exchange of experience, research findings and standarisation of services among themselves;
Establish coordication and fuctional relationaship with other relevant national and international organisations, agencies or governments in carrying out its mission;
Accord priority to serve the communities that are more needy and/or are in immidiate distress:
AMDA Nepal provides good working environment to its staffs and excellent learning oppertunites for the medical interns. AMDA Nepal runs Three hospitals, academic program for health related courses, health and nutrition service to Bhutanese refugees, AMDA Saath Saath Project, AMDA MCH Project and other few community based Primary Health Centers and programs in partnership with different agencies. AMDA has planned to extend its services in mid/far west region of Nepal.
AMDA Nepal is managed by its own financial regulation, personnel regulations and guidelines. General assembly of AMDA Nepal helds at least once in a a year. Executive committee of Nine members for the tenure of Two year decides and executes the policy matter of the organization.
