Prof. Ramesh Aacharya is a family physician and bioethicist by profession and currently, serves as a member of AMDA Nepal. In the past, Prof. Aacharya has served in various capacities including Director (1996-2000) and Chairperson (2003 – 2007) of AMDA Nepal. He was Senior Technical Advisor (2006 – 2009) in USAID funded ASHA (Advancing surveillance, policies, prevention, treatment, care and support to fight HIV/AIDS) Project. He has also served as Medical Coordinator in disaster relief activities like UNHCR funded Rwandan Refugees Project of AMDA International in Zaire and Cyclone relief project in India. He served as the Director (2019-2023) of Planning, Coordination and Academic Upgradation Directorate in Medical Education Commission. Recently, he retired from the post of Professor of General Practice, Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University where he served as a faculty for 24 years.
