AMDA Nepal established AMDA Health Manpower Development Center under AMDA Hospital with the approval of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) to prepare middle-level health human resources in 1996. In the beginning, Technical School Leveling Certificate (TSLC) level programs: Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM), and Medical Lab Technology (Lab Assistant) were launched. In 1997, Community Medical Assistant (CMA) course was added.
Similarly, in 2008, the Proficiency Certificate Level/Diploma Level Nursing (Staff Nurse) program started. In 2012, AMDA Health Manpower Development Center was renamed as AMDA Institute of Health Science (AIHS).

In the academic session 2012, the CTEVT recognized AIHS as the best institution in the Eastern Development Region on its 26th anniversary. In 2018, the Proficiency Certificate Level/Diploma Level in General Medicine Program (HA) has been launched. Likewise, in 2022 Technical School Leveling Certificate (TSLC) level programs [Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM), Medical Lab Technology (Lab Assistant), and Community Medical Assistant (CMA)] are upgraded to Proficiency Certificate Level/Diploma Level of Medical Lab Technology (Lab Tech.), Radiography, and Physiotherapy.

AIHS students get exposure to AMDA hospital, Zonal hospital, District hospital, Primary Health Care centers, Health Posts, and other health service providers of Province-1. The students get on-the-job training (OJT) in and around Damak to promote community health.
 
AIHS has own academic building and well eqippted library and labotaroty set-up. Infrastructure has been developed to meet the national standard. The training block was constructed with the support of Embassy of Japan in 2005.

It is with great pride and a deep sense of responsibility that I welcome you to the AMDA Institute of Health Sciences (AIHS), Damak. Since its inception in 1996, AIHS has remained committed to producing competent and compassionate health professionals who contribute meaningfully to the well-being of individuals and communities, both in Nepal and beyond.

AMDA Nepal established the AMDA Health Manpower Development Center under AMDA Hospital, Damak with the approval of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), to meet the growing demand for middle-level health human resources. Initially, TSLC-level programs such as Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) and Medical Lab Technology (Lab Assistant) were launched. The Community Medical Assistant (CMA) course was introduced in 1997. In 2008, we took a significant step forward by launching the Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL)/Diploma in Nursing (Staff Nurse) program, followed by our rebranding as the AMDA Institute of Health Sciences (AIHS) in 2012.AIHS received recognition from CTEVT as the best institution in the Eastern Development Region during its 26th anniversary in 2012. Building on this foundation, we launched the PCL/Diploma in General Medicine (Health Assistant) in 2018. In 2022, the TSLC-level programs (ANM, Lab Assistant, and CMA) were upgraded to diploma-level programs in Medical Laboratory Technology, Radiography, and Physiotherapy.

Today, AIHS proudly offers 5 comprehensive 3-year diploma programs affiliated with CTEVT: Nursing, General Medicine (Health Assistant), Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology (CMLT), Diagnostic Radiography and Physiotherapy
