Introduction: -
This course is
based on the job performance requirement of the Staff Nurse at different levels
of health care system of Nepal. Therefore, this curriculum is designed to develop
knowledge, skills, and attitude among graduates to perform nursing professional
practice. In total three years, the first-year course is focused on basic
nursing care in hospital and in the community: foundational nursing practices;
the second-year course is focused on preventive, promotive as well as
therapeutic nursing care of sick adult and elderly individual as well as
mentally ill individual. Similarly, the third-year course comprise of the
pediatric, midwifery and gynecology as well as leadership and management.
The program aims
to produce a middle level nursing work force who is independent and competent
to assume the responsibility to carry out the function of preventive,
primitive, curative, rehabilitative and holistic care of an individual/group at
hospital and in community settings.
Program
Objectives Upon completion of the program the graduate will be able to:

care to well and sick individuals, families and communities.

Group
Size
The group size
will be maximum of 40 (forty) students in a batch.
Certification:
Students who have
successfully completed the course will be awarded with a degree of
"Proficiency Certificate Level in nursing".
Career Path
•
The graduates will be eligible for the
position equivalent to Non-gazetted 1st class (technical) as Staff Nurse or as
prescribed by the Public Service Commission of Nepal.
•
The graduate will be eligible for
registration/take examination with the related Council in the grade as
provisioned in the related Council Act (if any).
•
The graduates are eligible to go for
Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent Course as per university rule.
2. Diploma in General Medicine
Diploma
in General Medicine is offered as a Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) in
General Medicine, also known as a Health Assistant (HA) program. This
3-year program prepares students for mid-level healthcare roles, focusing on
providing primary and preventative healthcare services, particularly in rural
areas

The graduate will be eligible for registration with the related Council in the grade as provisioned in the related Council Act (if any).
Further Education:
Graduates can pursue further studies, such as a Bachelor of Public
Health (BPH), or may be eligible for MBBS entrance examinations after
completing a science deficiency course. After
completing, General Medicine course can be eligible to sit in the entrance
examination of Bachelor in Public Health (BPH) and other disciplines, but need
to complete deficiency course of science conducted by Higher Secondary
Education Board (HSEB) to be eligible for MBBS entrance examination. Only Patan
Hospital ( PAHS – Patan Academy of Health Sciences) will take directly for MBBS
in Nepal.
c) Diploma in Physiotherapy
This
curriculum of 3 years Proficiency Certificate Level in Medical Science
(Physiotherapy) is designed to produce middle level skilled physiotherapist
equipped with sound knowledge, skills and attitudes. Physiotherapy is an
emerging field in the health service sector. Many people in the developed
countries, developing countries and under developed countries have been given
emphasis for the broader application of physiotherapy in treatment and
rehabilitation of various health conditions. This field has been helping the
societies and communities for their fitness, treatment and rehabilitation and
it has been creating job opportunities both in public and private sectors as
well as creating self-employment opportunities immensely. This course is based
on the tasks required to be performed by a physiotherapy assistant in variety
of clinical and community settings. Therefore, this curriculum is designed to
provide knowledge and skills focusing on physiotherapy. The program extends
over three academic years. The first year course focuses on basic science and
foundational subjects, the second year course focuses on theory and practical
part of basic physiotherapy subject. Similarly, the third year comprises of the
disciplinary subjects and application of learned skills and knowledge in
clinical and community setting. They have career opportunities in hospitals,
rehabilitation center, community rehabilitation center, etc. It is based on the
code of conduct of Nepal Health professional Council.
The program aims to prepare students for physiotherapy practice within clinical and community settings and with diverse population, including vulnerable groups in the country and elsewhere.

d) Diploma in Radiography
This program is of
three academic years' duration. The first-year course focuses on basic science
and foundational subjects, the second-year course focuses on basic radiography
and imaging related subjects and the third year is given to the application of
learned skills and knowledge within the comprehensive practical settings in
hospitals, health institutions and imaging centre recognized by the ministry of
health and population or concerned authority.

e) Diploma in CMLT
A Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology (CMLT) is a
three-year diploma-level program focused on training individuals to work as
laboratory technicians in various healthcare settings. It is affiliated
with the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) in
Nepal. The program provides both theoretical and practical training in
medical laboratory procedures and techniques.
The program extends over three academic years. The
first-year course focuses on basic science and foundational subjects, the second-year
course focuses on theory and practical parts of basic medical laboratory
subjects. Simultaneously the third year is given to the application of learned
skills and knowledge in comprehensive practical settings, in hospitals and
medical laboratories. The graduates will have career opportunities in
hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, clinics, industry and physicians' offices,
research centers, blood bank, crime investigating laboratories etc. It is based
on the code of conduct of Nepal Health professional Council.
